Tourists in Ho Chi Minh City are now able to reach the popular neighboring beach city of Vung Tau by hydrofoil again, with a brand new service inaugurated on Friday.
Operated by the Petro Pacific Tourism Corp, the new hydrofoil route departs from Nha Rong Wharf in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City and arrives at the hydrofoil station in Vung Tau, the coastal city of the southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
Two hydrofoils, each with a capacity of 40 passengers, are deployed for the new service.
One-way tickets cost VND200,000 (US$8.8) each for the 1.5-hour trip.
The new fleet of hydrofoil now provides passengers with a quicker way to visit Vung Tau, either for pleasure or business, with passenger buses normally taking one hour and 45 minutes for the same route.
Earlier on December 31, 2016, two hydrofoil operators including Vina Express and Quang Hung Trans. Co. were asked to cease their service as their vessels surpassed the service life threshold of 20 years, saddening many tourists who prefer the waterway transit.
