Our Story
Mr. Van was born, February 1972 in Saigon Vietnam. Van Phan moved to the United States in 1989, to be reunited with his family at the age of 17. Van relocated in the San Francisco Bay area in Northern California. While going to school, he began working at a Japanese restaurant called Tachi Sushi. His first position was a dishwasher. Through five years of hard work and dedication, Van worked his way up from a dishwasher, prep cook, and eventually to a head chef. Van always had a passion to be a sushi chef. Eventually, he would convince his Master Sushi Chef, Mr. Suwa to allow him to train as a sushi Chef. This is where Van would finally learn his passJion for Sushi and apanese Cusine. Mr. Suwa taught Van the traditional Japanese and sushi cuisine. Mr Van began to implement the traditional Japanese cuisine and add his more modern style of fusion Japanese cuisine. The three elements that Mr Van believed was the most important were, super freshness of seafood add high quality ingrident, enhance with his passion and creative mind will always bringing satisfaction to each and everyone of his customers.

After 20 years of living and working in California, Van and his brother Mr. Chuong decided move back to Vieetnam to be closr to their mother. Both brothers actually worked with their mother in the wedding bangquet restaurant in Saigon. After help their mother retired, they decided to pursue their dream. Opening up Ichiba Sushi Vietnam Morden Japanese cuisine which was once a dream and a promise, became a reality on December 23, 2013.Our Story
